The Art of the Alt Tag

Alternative text tags ensure that objects and images are accessible to nonvisual users on websites and mobile applications. But writing them well can be tricky.

In this webinar we’ll focus on:

  • What does the user need and want to know?
  • The short versus long alternative text tag: which is better?
  • Tips for addressing bias in alt tag writing.

Accessible Multimedia: Captions, Audio Descriptions and Transcripts

Thursday, August 18, 11-11:30 a.m. CDT

Ensuring that videos, audio files and presentation formats are accessible to everyone can be mystifying.  WeCo’s Accessibility Team will give you a crash course in the essentials to help you understand, and address, the accessibility needs in your multimedia, including:

  • Overview of standards and laws regarding multimedia accessibility
  • Captions and audio descriptions: what they are and when they’re used
  • Transcripts and how they can be a useful tool for increasing accessibility in media.

People living with disabilities can find website and mobile applications forms exceptionally challenging to access and use. Yet forms are often the key to many services and goods they rely upon. WeCo’s Accessibility Team will help your team understand:
