How the New Level of Section 508 Accountability Touches Us All

Whether your organization is a private entity, government agency or a company which does business with government, the implementation of the Section 508 Strategic Plan will touch all of us in some way. A higher level of accountability on Federal websites raises the accessibility bar for ALL organizations, be they private and public.

At WeCo, we have observed that, when a company begins to implement accessible design best practices on their websites and documents, it doesn’t take long for their competitors, or other public agencies, to follow suit.  As consumers and taxpayers who live with disabilities begin to realize that access to information and services is increasing in the Federal arena, expectations for reasonable access to goods, services and information in other areas are a natural outcome.

How Your Organization Can PreparePeople reviewing a document together in a conference room.
As the Federal government begins to implement the Section 508 Strategic Plan by assessing their accessibility needs and defining roles for implementation, it’s an excellent chance to begin this discussion in your own organization or business.

WeCo’s free assessment and consultation services can help facilitate that internal discussion for you.  Please feel free to call on us.
