Digital Accessibility by WeCo’s Founder President Lynn Wehrman moderated the first in a series of panel discussions on How Special Government and Civic Organizations are Creating a Path Forward to Compliance of the ADA New Rules.
Panelists included Lisa Yang, Hennepin County Digital Accessibility Coordinator Digital Experience DX. Dan Marfield, Digital Communications Coordinator City of Bloomington and Abby Tekiela, Water Resources Program Coordinator South Washington Watershed District.
Lynn moderated the discussion through topics including Creating a Plan, Locating and Leveraging Resources, Ways to Engage Reluctant Teams and Employees along with questions from attendees.
Each of the panel shared their journey and often found common challenges even though they represented county, city and local viewpoints while moderator Lynn interjected her understanding and experience having spearheaded the first accessible government website many years ago while at the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Everyone agreed, documents and pdf’s led the list for concerns.
Lynn’s time at MN DOT was the inspiration for Digital Accessibility by WeCo’s vision and mission. “Our mission is to support accessibility, awareness, and independence for all people, regardless of their disabilities by assisting the businesses, corporations, and organizations they utilize.” We do this by employing a team of experts with disabilities who understand first-hand challenges with websites, apps, videos, documents, images, AI, access, and usability.
