Disability-Focused Usability Testing

Person seated in a wheel chair working on a clear planning board with a coworker demonstrating WeCo's disability-focused usability testing services.

Many organizations approach accessibility from a purely “functional” viewpoint, leaving user experience behind, and their projects still vulnerable to potential legal complaints.

Our unique “disability-focused” usability testing process places the needs of users with disabilities at the center of our usability testing process.  Our usability testing reports provide you with a clear picture of what users with a variety of disabilities encounter when they enter your website, software or mobile aps.

Learn why usability is an important part of accessibility in this article by the W3C.

How it works

  • Pinpoints confusing and potentially frustrating processes, that can adversely impact users with disabilities.
  • Identifies a reasonable length of time for users with disabilities to be successful in using your website, mobile ap or software.
  • Assesses the level of satisfaction users with disabilities have in using your software or site.
  • Compares mainstream user familiarity against proposed functionality, focusing on the unique needs of users with disabilities.

Disability-focused usability testing can be applied to:

  • Websites
  • Software
  • Mobile applications
  • Online learning environments

Our Team

WeCo trains and maintains our own team of Usability Testers who represent these primary disability classifications: cognitive, hearing, motor skill and sight, to test website, software or mobile applications. You’ll see a difference in the real-life usability of your projects with WeCo’s user-focused approach.

WeCo’s Usability Check-In Testing is designed to give you quick feedback on your website, software or mobile application. Tested by a WeCo Usability Tester who lives with one or more disability, you’ll receive a report with “in their own words” feedback.

About this Service: Originally developed for GovDelivery’s agile development processes.  Usability Check-In guides your changes in an informed manner.  It allows development teams to learn and experiment with what works and what does not.
