Bathrobe Accessibility Check: Basic Tips

Man wearing a bathrobe, holding a cup of coffee, looking at the words, "The Bathrobe Accessiblity Check with WeCo's Accessibility Team"

WeCo’s Accessibility Team thought this is the perfect time to scope your business/agency website for accessibility basics.  Something… Continue Reading Bathrobe Accessibility Check: Basic Tips

A computer keyboard with a key that has an American flag image on it.

On December 26, 2017 the US Department of Justice officially withdrew the proposed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules for website accessibility.  The question we’re being asked at WeCo by many of our clients since then is: does this mean we don’t have to make our website and software accessible?  That’s an important question.  It’s one… Continue Reading No ADA Web Rules: Are We Off the Hook?

ADA Rule Inactive Status: Impacts on Digital Accessibility

Two road signs on a post. One says, "now" the other says "later."

Digital accessibility has become a standard in our lives.  More businesses and government departments have begun to view it as more than just legal compliance, it’s a way to reach people and gain market share.  This momentum will continue as our Baby Boom population ages and the number of individuals living with disabilities grows dramatically as a result. Taking the  “short view” of attempting to save money by avoiding doing the work of digital accessibility means that you will be left behind.  Continue Reading ADA Rule Inactive Status: Impacts on Digital Accessibility

WeCo Hosts “Access for All” ADA Visit Creating Accessibility Cultural Exchange

Two women smiling into the camera in the midst of a classroom.

Our staff learned that many of our counterparts working on IT accessibility, and the needs of people living with disabilities, across the globe, do not have access to the level of accessible technology we enjoy in the US. One of our new friends from an African nation shared with us: “Many of our people don’t have computers, let alone screen reader software.” Continue Reading WeCo Hosts “Access for All” ADA Visit Creating Accessibility Cultural Exchange

Do You Have A Sticky Keyboard

Living with a motor skill-related disability, I rely on technology called “sticky keys” and voice recognition software. I also use typing splints on my hands because I cannot use my fingers. Continue Reading Do You Have A Sticky Keyboard

Section 508 and the ADA: a Primer for Website Accessible Communication

Visually impaired businesswoman standing with a cane in an office

When organizations in the US begin the journey of designing or redesigning their websites and electronic communication products for accessibility, the first question that comes up is: what do we have to do?  Thus, all of WeCo’s accessibility training courses includes an overview of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans… Continue Reading Section 508 and the ADA: a Primer for Website Accessible Communication

Five Reasons Why Including People Living With Disabilities in your Workforce Creates a Positive Culture

Two WeCo staff members having a discussion, Billy is seated on a stool and Chad is in a wheel chair.

As the president of a company that is highly dependent upon the unique perspective and specific skills that result when people live with one or more types of disabilities, making reasonable accommodations is a part of my everyday work life.  At WeCo, accommodation is viewed as part of how we do business, rather than a… Continue Reading Five Reasons Why Including People Living With Disabilities in your Workforce Creates a Positive Culture
